Birmingham New Street Station: Eyes on Live Media
Contemporary eye
When Network Rail appointed Faithful+Gould to refurbish Birmingham New Street Station, the whole project included more than the already massive renovation of the concourse and platforms.
Together with construction works and the extension of shopping areas, the building would include innovations in terms of Digital Out of Home. Digital Media Technologies took care of installing bespoke technology to add value to the many screens in the station.
Of course, the most significant and iconic screens are the three Media Eyes, whose advertisements are managed by Ocean Outdoor.
Compelling media
The South East Eye is the largest one, with a total surface of 106.49 square meters. Its strategic location is over the entrance to the main concourse in the station. The South Eye, on the other hand, stands above the railway station entrances. Its dimensions are 66.45 square meters. Finally, the North West Eye is the tallest one, with a surface of 102 square meters.
For Digital Media Technologies, this project involved working on one of the largest construction sites in Europe. DMT installed a secure network infrastructure and key technologies such as audience recognition and attribution systems. Also, we took care of the live streaming of the inaugural event with the participation of Her Majesty The Queen.
